Half your 50K drawdown, gone while you sleep (MNQ, 14 Oct)
This is a worked example set on the night of 14 to 15 October. The chart is an illustration with simulated data, not the real session.
Say you hold 5 MNQ into the evening on a 50K evaluation with a $2,000 drawdown. MNQ moves $2 a point per contract, so 5 contracts move $10 a point. A 100-point move against you overnight is $1,000: half your drawdown, while you are asleep.
Overnight sessions are often thinner than the day session, and reports from other time zones land while you are away from the screen. A stop helps, but it is not a promise: in a fast move it can fill worse than its price.
Before you hold overnight, check three things. Does your firm allow it at all? What is your dollar risk per point at your size? And how much of your remaining drawdown would one bad move take?
Many traders simply flatten before the session they will not watch. Whatever you choose, make it a decision in your plan rather than something that happens because you forgot.
Education only. Not advice. Trading futures carries risk of loss; evaluations use simulated accounts.
