Read the prop firm rules before you pay
Most surprises in a prop evaluation come from a rule the trader had not read. A short checklist before you pay saves money and stress.
Drawdown: the amount, whether it trails, whether it is intraday or end of day, and whether it stops trailing at a set level.
Daily loss limit: whether there is one, how it is counted, and whether hitting it ends the account or only pauses the day.
Consistency: the percentage, what it is compared with, and when it is checked.
Trading limits: maximum contracts, which products are allowed, rules around news releases, holding overnight or over weekends, and whether copiers or automated tools are allowed.
Costs and payouts: the fee, resets, monthly data costs, refund terms, payout rules, minimum days and any rules that apply only after the evaluation.
Keep a copy or screenshot of the rules on the day you pay, since terms can change. If something is unclear, ask the firm in writing before you start.
Education only. Not advice. Trading futures carries risk of loss; evaluations use simulated accounts.
